Silent Night

Silent Night (em alemão: Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht) é uma popular canção de Natal.
A letra original da canção (Stille Nacht), foi escrita na Áustria, pelo padre Joseph Mohr (1816) e a música composta por um director de escola, também austríaco, Franz Xaver Gruber, em 1818.
Em 1859, John Freeman Young (bispo, da Diocese Episcopal da Florida) elaborou a tradução inglesa da letra que é a versão mais frequentemente cantada nos dias de hoje. Actualmente a melodia difere também ligeiramente do original.
Esta canção foi apresentada ao público, pela primeira vez, em 24 de Dezembro de 1818 na Nikolaus-Kirche (Igreja de S. Nicolau) em Oberndorf, Áustria.
